On Wednesday Google released its list of the most popular searches during 2008 and it seems like Sarah Palin topped the web search charts. The Alaska governor lost the chance to be the right hand of the president of the United States, but instead she had won a great popularity among people all around the world.
The second place was taken by “Beijing Olympics 2008” and was followed by “Facebook login” and the Spanish social networking website, “Tuneti.” “Heath Ledger,” the Australian actor who died of an overdose in January came in at number four followed by “Obama,” which stands for Barack Obama, the newly elected president of the United States.
The Polish social networking website, “Nasza Klasa” and the German social networking website, “Wer Kennt Wen” came on 7th and 8th place, followed by “Euro 2008,” the biggest football competition in Europe, and “Jonas Brother.” This was the first time when Google released data for more than 30 countries and provided a global view of what people have been looking on the Internet in 2008.
In the United States top, “Obama” got the first place and was followed by “Facebook,” “ATT,” “iPhone,” “YouTube” and “Fox News.” Sarah Palin reached only the 7th place in the United States Google top. Yet, Palin did win the number one on Google Images Search too.
Britney Spears, whotopped the Yahoo list, which had been released on December 1, didn’t reach any of the 10 places on Google. Yet, the pop singer topped the Yahoo lists for the seventh time in eight years.
