This year’s presidential race was one of the most spectacular and it was very well, if not excessively, covered by the media, breaking rating records, establishing new ways to campaign, like video game ads, and being a truly historic moment for Americans and for democracy, in general. Now that the elections are over and Barack Obama was chosen by the people to lead, the media is still pressing for hot behind the scene details. In this manner, in some interviews with Governor Sarah Palin, journalists have asked about delicate subjects as an “everyday Joe wearing $150 000 clothes” and the reasons republicans lost the elections.
Sarah Palin gave the answers everybody expected to hear, circular arguments that only speak half of the truth. The governor of Alaska believes that one of the factors that lead to the victory of the democrats is people’s memory of the last 8 years, leaded by republicans in wars and into an economic crisis. Sarah Palin also said that if she can do it and if the possibility opens up she might run for high office again in four years, as she would do anything that can lead to a better future for her and her family and the rest of Americans.
When asked about the delicate issue of the very expensive clothes she wore during the campaign, she answered that it was odd and she was aware of it from the beginning, but there are some things that should be taken as they are. Governor Palin said she wouldn’t have had any problems in speaking to the public in her normal, everyday clothes. She also added that the clothes were returned immediately after they were of no use.
