The Alaskan governor Sarah Palin told in an interview on
Monday that she might run for a higher office in the 2012 elections should the
opportunity present itself.
The Republicans lost the elections before Obama’s campaign
last Tuesday, but even before that, some voices mentioned a possible 2012
presidential candidacy for the 44-year-old Alaskan governor.
"Show me where the open door is. Even if it's cracked
up a little bit, maybe I'll plow right on through that and maybe prematurely
plow through it, but don't let me miss an open door," Palin said in an
interview on Fox News' "On the Record" program. Palin did not mention
which office she might be running for.
Palin’s term as governor ends in two years, but she said
that she cannot predict the future. She called an opportunity to serve in a
greater capacity “very exciting.”
"If there is an open door in '12 or four years later,
and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state,
for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I'll plow through that door," said
Palin.
Palin was something of a surprise pick for McCain’s running
mate, and fought a hard fight against Democrat Barack Obama. The difficulty of
the battle was added to in no small measure by the controversy that has
surrounded Palin since day one of the campaign. Despite that, she has garnered
a loyal following in the Republican Party’s conservative base. We wish the best
of luck to her.
