Sanyo has announced Wednesday that it will release a new camcorder capable of recording high definition videos. The Xacti HD1010 will be able to take 4MP photos and, thanks to its encoding algorithms, allows 8GB memory cards to store 1920 x 1080 videos up to 87 minutes long.
The camera, which has many cool and useful features, is able to record high definition videos at both 60 fps and 300 fps rates. The last one allows sports lovers to watch the video they shot in slow motion, without any compromise to image quality.
One of the features that make the camera ideal for beginners is the face detection technology, dubbed Face Chaser, which allows the recognition of up to 12 faces in both video and picture shots. The feature allows the camera to adjust the focus and the luminosity so that the faces of everybody in the picture would appear extremely clear.
Of course, image stabilization is also offered. The feature is a must for any camera capable of recording HD videos, which are known for the steady hand required to obtain a good quality clip.
The Xacti HD1010 can also take photos while it is used to record a video. Depending on the mode used for taking the pictures, the recording of the video might even not be interrupted.
The camcorder, which, in addition to all these, can be used as web cam also, is scheduled to hit the US market sometime in July, and will be priced at around $800.
