Anyway, Safari 4 is here (I’m not going to use it, yet I am too kind to deny its right to some publicity, although it will probably get lost behind talks of Firefox, IE and Chrome), therefore we must talk about it as well.

 

First of all, it undeniably delivers speed, but I don’t think we should exaggerate with the awesomeness factor here, since most of its innovations have already been delivered by others… but at least it seems Safari can now sit on the same level of speed with Chrome, Firefox or IE, and perhaps even better according to some tests.

 

By the looks of it, Safari gave me the impression of a weird, grey Chrome, but maybe that’s just me. It’s not clustered, but it’s not impressive either, and I would take Chrome and Firefox over it anytime. And speaking of Chrome, here is what it brings that Apple’s browser doesn’t: tab crash protection, but that also places Safari on the same level with Firefox for example.

 

Overall, Apple didn’t do bad, but it’s fighting against the wind here, since “world’s fastest and most innovative browser” will not catch up with any of the competitors out there. As a Windows user that I am, I will not keep Safari installed on my comp, because it just feels like it doesn’t belong here, and even if it did, I wouldn’t change my too loves (Firefox and Chrome) for it.
