SC Teen Shoots 4 Family Members in the Head

A young man killed his father, stepmother and two siblings. According to the police report, the 18-year-old shot his relatives inside a suburban South Carolina house where they were living together.

The young killer was identified as Nathaniel Dickson. Police officers put him under arrest at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at a home in Belton about 20 miles from the crime scene, according to Anderson County Sheriff's spokeswoman Susann Griffin.

Dickson is facing four counts of murder.

A 911 call at about 9:30 a.m. sent paramedics at the house where the crime took place. When arriving at the scene, the medical staff found the father dead in the yard. The other three victims were found inside the house. All of them were shot in the head.

The youngest victim was the Dickson's 14-year-old little brother. It seems he was shot in the head as he was trying to hide behind the clothes dryer.

Police said investigators couldn’t determine what drove Dickson to kill his relatives, Griffin said.

Police released the names and age of the victims: Samuel Andrew Dickson Jr., 46 (father), Martiza Hurtado Dickson, 46 (stepmother), Melissa Giliam Salazar, 19 (stepsister) and his 14-year-old brother, Taylor Alex Dickson.

According to Melissa Funk, a neighbor of the Dicksons, Nathaniel had moved out of the house after graduation a year ago, but had recently moved back in.
