Rumor has it that “Hannah Montana” superstar Miley Cyrus and
dad and fellow cast member Billy Ray Cyrus no longer want to appear on the
Disney Channel series.
Celebrity gossip site TMZ reported Sunday that 15-year-old
Miley Cyrus and her country singer father are determined to depart the cable
show that propelled them to universal fame.
TMZ has “spies” on the set who are reporting that there is
quite some tension among cast and crew as Miley and Billy Ray have made it a
habit to come “ridiculously” late to work, causing delays and getting on
everyone’s nerves.
Discontentment has reached such levels that the 15-year-old
star and fellow cast member Emily Osment, once her best friend, can hardly
perform their scenes together. Osment’s father has reportedly snapped at
Miley’s father, complaining that the two are unprofessional.
Miley and Billy Ray have also been castigated by Disney
execs, who have called the pair “ingrates.”
Billy Ray Cyrus, who shot to fame in the 1990s with his
country single “Achy Breaky Heart,” reportedly told people on the set that he
and his daughter would only complete 12 more episodes after which they leave.
Disney apparently expects them to complete double that
amount plus another 6 episodes.
While she may no longer wish to portray sweet Hannah
Montana, Miley apparently does not want to give up acting.
Trade paper Variety reported last week that the teenager intends
to star in a film by “The Notebook” filmmaker Nicholas Sparks, from a script by
Nicholas Sparks (“A Walk to Remember”).
Sparks
is already writing an untitled novel and simultaneously working on a screenplay
adaptation for the film. The film will be produced by Adam Shankman and
Jennifer Gibgot from Disney-based Offspring Entertainment, and Miley’s mother,
Tish Cyrus, will be the executive producer.
