You must be living under a rock or in some cave if you
haven’t already learned that Madonna and Guy Ritchie are divorcing after 8
years of togetherness, but here’s something you may not know: soon-to-be former
Mr. Madonna may be seeing someone already.
Isn’t gossip a wonderful thing? Gets your mind off things
for a little while. So let us indulge in some Madonna-Guy Ritchie rumors. It’s
better than watching a soap.
The pop superstar and the British director finally confirmed
earlier this month what the press had long and perseveringly been speculating,
that they were divorcing. A statement issued though Madonna’s publicist, Liz
Rosenberg, said the couple had “agreed” to end their eight-year marriage.
Nasty stories are of course coming out, about troubles in
the Ritchie household, disagreements between the spouses, perennial reasons for
discontent, a possible divorce settlement already having been reached (the
latter rumor dismissed by Rosenberg a couple of days ago).
The most interesting and recent tittle-tattle involves some
post-marriage consolation for Guy Ritchie. The director, who is currently
filming “Sherlock Holmes” in Great
Britain, is said to be more than friendly
with one of his film’s stars, British actress Kelly Reilly.
Not only is Kelly Reilly gorgeous, she is also only
31-years-old, almost two decades younger than Madonna, a decade younger than
Ritchie.
Reilly has appeared in films such as “Mrs. Henderson
Presents,” with Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins, “The Libertine,” with Johnny Depp,
“Pride & Prejudice,” with Keira Knightley and French films “L’Auberge Espagnole”
and “Les Poupées Russes.” She is also an accomplished stage actress.
Us Weekly reports that just three days after the couple
announced they were divorcing, Ritchie was spied checking into a Chatham Hotel where
Reilly also happens to be staying.
Long before Ritchie was rumored to have eyes for other
ladies than his wife, Madonna was linked with New York Yankees star Alex
Rodriguez. Speculation was so insistent that the two were having an
extra-marital affair this summer that Madonna even went the length of
dismissing such hearsay in a statement. Rodriguez has meanwhile divorced.
Us Weekly further reports that 8-year-old Rocco, Madonna and
Guy Ritchie’s only biological child, was photographed Monday by paparazzi
wearing a Yankee t-shirt. The photo appeared in British tabloids and apparently
upset Ritchie greatly.
Madonna and Guy Ritchie are also parents to Lourdes,
12, from a previous relationship of the singer’s, and David Banda, 3, whose
adoption from Malawi
was finalized earlier this year.
The iconic singer is currently in the middle of her Sticky
and Sweet tour in the US,
while Ritchie is filming in the UK.
