Former "The View" co-host, Rosie O’Donnell, has some surprises left and is now talking about the effects of celebrity in her upcoming book called "Celebrity Detox," due September 18, which she promoted at BookExpo American, the annual publishing industry trade show.
Explaining the title of her memoir, the outspoken star says the effect of celebrity "is, in fact, a drug," scarily similar to that of a "crystal meth" addiction.
Her book asks: "If celebrity and fame are truly a drug, can one go back to drinking and sip instead of taking a slug?"
O’Donnell claims her long-delayed memoir on fame will not be "vindictive" or "mean-spirited," but aims to present an honest look at her very public life, including her brief, battling stint on "The View."
She said her earlier than planned exit from ABC’s talk show, was what convinced her she was ready to finish the book, described "half blog," half "straight" writing.
"We've had to change the epilogue," she said of "Celebrity Detox," then quipped her next career move would be "auditioning for `The Apprentice.'"
O’Donnell recently ended a contract with ABC’s morning show "The View," earlier than planned due to a politically related conflict with one her co-hosts, Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
In reality, O'Donnell will go on the road with Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Tour, followed by her book release, People.com reported.
