Rosie O’Donnell Heading Back To Television

After her sudden leave from ABC’s "The View" six months ago, Rosie O'Donnell is in talks with MSNBC for a possible comeback to the TV screen, New York Times reported.

According to executives on both sides of the negotiations, the cable news channel approached O’Donnell with a hosting offer for a prime-time show, which would replace MSNBC’s rather low-rated "Live with Dan Abrams," and also compete with CNN’s Larry King and Hannity & Colmes on Fox News.

Negotiations are ongoing and executives were careful to underline that certain issues are yet to be discussed, including when such a show would appear, what Ms. O’Donnell would be paid, and whether she would also be seen on the NBC broadcast network.

"It's far from a done deal," an executive familiar with some of the discussions was quoted by Reuters as saying.

Since her final days on "The View," O’Donnell has been mostly off the airwaves, although NBC has been aggressively pursuing her in recent months with a number of projects, including host of a possible new game show. This fall, O'Donnell will reprise her guest role as Dawn Budge on FOX’ "Nip/Tuck."

During a recent book-signing for her new book "Celebrity Detox" she hinted that she might be taking a new job, saying that she would soon begin competing against "the guy with the suspenders and the long, long face," an obvious reference to Larry King.

A cable talk show all for herself would probably suit O’Donnell best, giving her a lot more freedom to discuss a wide range of topics, including her own political ideas, which viewers of "The View" are very familiar with.
