Country music singer Rosanne Cash is expected to make a full recovery after recently going under the knife to have a benign condition of her brain corrected, her label said on Wednesday.
The oldest offspring of late singer Johnny Cash is recovering "comfortably" at her New York home following the successful procedure last month.
The 52-year-old canceled all her remaining public appearances for the year when she announced last month that she was being treated for a "structural problem" caused b Chiari 1 Malformation, a rare congenital malformation of the brain. Cash wanted everyone to know that while the condition was rare, it wasn’t life-threatening.
"Rosanne is back home recovering comfortably from her surgery, which took place on November 27. She extends thanks and appreciation for all the love, good wishes, prayers and kindness," a message on her website said.
Cash, who was touring in support of last year’s Grammy-nominated "Black Cadillac," which is a tribute to her late father and mother, Johnny Cash’s first wife Vivian, is expected to resume her live performances scheduled in the spring.
Earlier this year, Cash signed with Manhattan and was due to enter the studio to record tracks for her debut with the EMI-based label and also complete a new book to be published in 2009.
"I am very proud to have Rosanne Cash on our roster," Manhattan Records' GM Ian Ralfini said. "She is an extremely talented singer, writer and performer. We all wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to having her back in the studio soon."
