How did Tony Romo prepare for
the Giants’ game? Well, for starters, he took a weekend off the crowded city
and went to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with his pop star girlfriend Jessica Simpson,
in what he said was a time off, in order to “get away from distractions.” That would
mean Romo is ready for Dallas’ game after his little getaway, or at least that
is what everyone hopes for.
In the meantime, and while
trying to take some of the attention off his weekend with Jessica Simpson, Tony
Romo remained at the Cowboy’s Valley Ranch facility to study their playoff
adversaries from early morning to late at night. Hopefully for the Cowboys, he
will be ready for the confrontation, as he’s career has reached a not so good
turning point.
However that may be, Romo doesn’t
seem to be bothered by this attention the media has given to his love life and
the negative impact on his career. All he could say about his highly discussed
weekend was that “part of the reason I got away last weekend was just because I don’t
feel sometimes that I get to be on my own when I am in certain places. It was
nice to go there … and just sit around and watch football over the weekend […]
I think I needed it, and I think some of our guys needed to. So I think it will
hopefully help us prepare for this week.”
Coach Wade Phillips kept his
players under strict orders, preparing them for the big game. On one
hand, there is not much he can do. The players will need to stay focus and take
chances if they want to make this game their own, as they are expected to. On the other hand, some critics may fear of a
certain degree of overconfidence from Romo, who needs that learn that wanting
to win and actually winning are two very different things.
