Sarah Jessica Parker and husband of 12 years Matthew Broderick spent a "date night" out in New York City on Thursday, thus making one step forward towards their declining divorce rumors that had surrounded them in the past.

On Thursday night, the couple went to "The American Plan" at the Friedman Theater in New York City and appeared holding hands and happy. "We don't even bother to address them," Sarah Jessica Parker said of the split rumors. But when asked what the best part of being married was, all she offered was "being married."

Accounts of marital discord between the couple go back at least to August 2008, when Star magazine published an article in which a source claimed that her friend, a 25-year-old youth counselor, was having an affair with Broderick. Also in August, Britain’s Daily Mail claimed they were informed that the couple was staying together purely for the sake of their son, 5-year-old James Witkie.

And as for the news that she and her three “Sex and the City” co-stars are all set to go for a sequel to last year’s hit movie, she revealed, “that’s what I’ve heard but I wouldn’t say that is the most official thing you’ll ever read.”

In the meantime, Parker seems incredibly devoted to her family. In fact, on January 23, one day after the reported date with her husband, she was spotted as she walked her son through the West Village to his school. After dropping him off, she continued her walk while chatting on her mobile phone.
