Amy Rice was so terrified when the neighbor’s pit bull jumped
over the fence and attacked her Labrador, that she resorted to drastic
measures.
Unable to pull the pit bull off her Labrador, Ella, she bit
the attacker’s nose to make it let go of her pet.
“I ended up biting the pit bull on the nose,” said Rice, 38,
whose dog was attacked in her own Minneapolis yard. “I didn't plan it, that's
what happened. I broke the skin and had pit bull blood in my mouth. I knew what
happened, and I knew that it wasn't good.”
The pit bull did not suffer major wounds and was quarantined
by Minneapolis Animal Control officers, while Rice’s doctor is trying to
determine whether the woman needs rabies shots.
The injured Labrador, Ella, is currently recovering with
staples and stitches to her head. She also has a crushed ear canal and remained
in a state of shock after the attack. She is now scared to go out for walks.
"I was sure that my dog was dying in my arms; it was
horrible," Rice said, according to The Star Tribune.
