He may be the most spirited chef out there, but Rocco
DiSpirito’s not-so-good dancing techniques seem to have cooked his goose with
the “Dancing with the Stars” top prize.
The celebrity chef and his partner, Karina Smirnoff, were
eliminated on Tuesday from the ABC show, as they received the lowest score from
the judges (18 out of 30), as well as from the audience voters, for their samba
performance.
Rocco DiSpirito showed up on the dance floor with a colorful
smile on his face and even a more colorful outfit, but his glitziness did not
work. Judge Bruno Tonioli even told the former contestant, “All the ruffles in
the world can’t disguise the fact that you haven’t got a musical bone in your body.”
However, the pair’s elimination did not come as a surprise,
as they would have left the competition anyway, if Misty May-Treanor hadn’t
abandoned “Dancing with the Stars” due to an injury she suffered during a
rehearsal for the show.
And the 41-year-old chef star of reality show “The
Restaurant” showed no sign of embarrassment or remorse, in spite of the fact
that Cloris Leachman, an actress exactly twice his age, remains in the
competition for at least one more week.
“I have nothing but grateful feeling to the entire cast and
crew,” he said during the final moments of the show. “This is a once in a
lifetime experience.”
Nevertheless, Rocco DiSpirito did not waste his last chance
to make jury member Bruno Tonioli hit the floor. “For my final request, I would
love it if Bruno could show me how to make my hips move properly,” DiSpirito
said, urging flamboyant judge Bruno Tonioli to show viewers some real moves.
That’s what I call a spirited farewell!
