Robin Williams has been admitted to a south Florida hospital after complaining of a respiratory problem, according to the Miami Herald. Therefore the actor has had to pull out of scheduled performances because of the reported health problems.
According to a press release, doctors are evaluating his condition and have recommended a week of rest. "Williams was experiencing shortness of breath and is currently being evaluated by doctors who are recommending a week of rest," the statement said.
Williams had been scheduled to perform in Orlando and Tampa: Wednesday and Thursday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida; Friday at the UFC Arena in Orlando; and Saturday at the Sundome in Tampa.
The cancelled shows will all be rescheduled. However the 57-year-old actor will continue his 80-city tour on Monday in Jacksonville, also in Florida. Williams has been on his “Weapons of Mass-Destruction” tour since September.
Nevertheless this isn't the first time the actor and comedian has coped with health problems. In August 2006, Williams checked himself into an alcohol rehab center.
Robin Williams has won an Academy Award for his performance in the 1997 film “Good Will Hunting,” as well as being nominated in the 1991 film “The Fisher King,” and 1993's “Mrs. Doubtfire.” He has also won six Golden Globes, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and three Grammy Awards.
Williams next reprises his role as the mannequin version of Teddy Roosevelt that magically comes to life in "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian," which hits theaters nationwide in May.
