Roberto Alomar Charged for...Having AIDS?

Ilya Dall, the ex girlfriend of baseball star Roberto Alomar, claims in a lawsuit that the athlete is suffering from full-blown AIDS. In spite of his condition, Dall said that Alomar insisted on having unprotected sex with her during their three year-long relationship.

The allegations against Alomar were worth a $15 million lawsuit filed last month in New York State Supreme Court by his former girlfriend who complained of personal injury in spite of the fact that she has tested negative for the disease. She stated that she was emotionally damaged and seems to be very concerned of the fact that her children might have been exposed to the virus as well.

The 32-year-old woman says that the athlete learned he was HIV-positive in early-2006, but he had strong reasons to believe he was infected even long before this date. According to her statement, his symptoms included "purple skin, too sick and weak to walk, needed to be in a wheelchair at the airport, was foaming at the mouth, couldn't swallow." The couple visited Dr. Steven Bass, an infectious disease specialist, who confirmed the diagnosis.

For God knows what reason, Dall accepted to have unprotected sex with Alomar since May 2002. Three years later in February they moved in together and continued their relationship until last October, when the woman stopped having physical contact with him as he learned he had AIDS.

Charles Bach, the defense lawyer, said the lawsuit was frivolous and that his client was "healthy and would like to keep his health status private.

Alomar's father, Sandy, a bench coach with the New York Met, stated that he had never heard of such accusations against his 12-time All-Star and Hall of Fame candidate son, and he sincerely thinks he would know if something was wrong with Roberto who played 17 seasons and worked with seven teams including the Mets, Baltimore, Toronto and Cleveland as infielder.
