Rihanna finally spoke after the alleged domestic incident that involved her and singer Chris Brown, her boyfriend. The 21-year-old R&B singer said on Friday that she is "strong" and "doing well."
However, "at the request of the authorities,” the singer did not say anything about her boyfriend who allegedly beat her before the Grammy Awards on February 8. In the short statement regarding the aforementioned incident, Rihanna also thanked fans for the support they provided her with during these difficult times.
Also related to the domestic violence case involving Rihanna, the Los Angeles Police Department launched an investigation to find out whether the photo of Rihanna shortly after she was beaten leaked to TMZ.com from within the department.
Starting Friday, the LAPD started interviewing officers and scouring electronic records amid suspicions that an insider leaked or sold the photo showing singer Rihanna seriously bruised.
LAPD Assistant Chief Earl Paysinger said that the TMZ photo is a type of photo taken in a police department domestic violence investigation, The Los Angeles Times reported.
“We will leave no stone unturned to identify who did this or to refute that this was a photo from the Police Department," Mr. Paysinger told the newspaper.
Hip Hop singer Chris Brown was arrested on February 8 and charged with making criminal threats after fighting with a woman in a car. The name of the woman was not made public by police, but there are strong suspicions that the woman was Rihanna. However, Rihanna, her boyfriend and the LAPD did not confirm the suspicions.
