Katie Couric will most likely leave the "CBS Evening News" anchor chair, but not in two weeks as some sources have written. He will say goodbye to CBC as soon as the elections are over, TMZ.com wrote.
According to a source familiar with the matter, CBS hasn’t fulfilled the promises it made to draw Couric to the network. When negotiating to bring her on their side, CBS promised they would adjust the newscast to her skills, but the cast is pretty much the same as before they hired Couric.
According to the same source, which remained anonymous, Couric is irritated with how CBS handled the evening news after she was hired. There are also rumors that CNN has manifested a "strong interest" for Couric and that she would replace Mr. King after his retirement.
Couric was also contacted by several talk show syndicators due to the fact that she has what it takes to draw enough heat to break into daytime. What she will choose is only for her to decide, although many would bet that she would prefer CNN, but certainly both options are on the table right now.
The allegations that she is pushed out by CBS are unfounded and improbable as Les Moonves, Couric’s mentor, won’t stand in the way of her professional success. CBS will reportedly continue to use Couric in other roles.
Couric’s $15-million-a-year contract expires in 2011. The 51-year-old anchor left NBC's "Today" show to replace Bob Schieffer, who was brought in temporarily after Dan Rather was forced out in 2005.
