A spokesman for Michael Jackson denied all allegations with regard to the former King of Pop’s poor health condition in a statement released on Monday. The singer’s “official and sole spokesperson,” Dr. Tohme Tohme explained that reports claiming his client suffered from a rare respiratory disease were a “total fabrication” and that Jacko was in no need of lung transplant.
The statement, which was issued by Los Angeles firm Scoop Marketing, refers to an interview with writer Ian Halperin published in Britain’s Sunday Express newspaper, in which Halperin says Michael Jackson is very ill and suffers from a genetic condition called Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency.
The writer has completed biographies of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain (“Love & Death: The Murder of Kurt Cobain”) and Britney Spears (“Stalking Britney: Under Siege with Britney Spears”) and is currently working on an unauthorized biography of Michael Jackson.
The statement released by the 50-year-old singer’s spokesman urges “legitimate media” to ignore such allegations in the future and consider the facts that it reports in order to avoid further exploitation by people who strive to draw attention. In addition, Dr. Tohme Tohme called the interview with Ian Halperin an evident “attempt to promote this unauthorized ‘biography.’”
The statement added that Michael Jackson was in “fine health” and that he was on the verge of signing an agreement with an important entertainment company and TV network that would offer “a series of specials and appearances” featuring the singer, as well as a world tour. Now who would have thought?
Earlier this year, Michael Jackson was seen in a wheelchair and he did not seem fit enough to hit the road. Furthermore, when Sheik Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, son of the King of Bahrain, filed a lawsuit against the singer at London’s High Court in November citing a breach of contract, Michael Jackson’s legal representative said that his client was unable to travel from the US to the UK, as the doctor had ordered him to avoid such trips.
The attorney said Michael Jackson suffered from an illness, but would not disclose its name. In spite of the fact that Jacko’s attorney had initially intended to obtain permission for his client to testify via video link from the US, the artist eventually said that he would attend a hearing in London’s High Court.
Ian Halperin informed In Touch magazine and Sunday Express that Michael Jackson was half blind and could “barely speak,” but that his health condition might be too poor to undergo surgery. He added that the star was also suffering from emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding and that the gravest health issue was an alleged internal hemorrhage.
Nevertheless, since Jacko’s spokesperson denied all allegations and explained that the singer would hold several gigs, we all are looking forward to seeing him in perfect shape.
