Maybe some analysts are ready to claim this is PS3’s year,
but let’s not forget that for the moment Nintendo and its gaming consoles, DS
and Wii are leading the sales. Besides that it seems like Nintendo has some
more aces in its sleeve.
During an interview with GameTrailers TV, Reggie Fils-Aime
has put the gaming world on fire, by making some innuendos about a big game
Nintendo will reveal during this year’s E3.
Fils-Aime refused to provide any details about the “big
surprise” Nintendo is working on, but it seems like it is about a new game that
will be released just in time for the holiday season.
“I’ll tell you this, we’re gonna have great new content
maximizing all of our key franchises. It’s gonna be a good second half. There’s
gonna be a big game for the holidays that the gamers will want,” Fils-Aime
mysteriously said.
“There's going to be a big game for the holidays that the
gamers will want," he added, when the reporter pressed for more details.
"All I can tell you is that what we announce during E3 is going to be
fantastic. The gamers are going to be excited and the expanded audience is
going to be excited."
So far, even if Nintendo is leading the hardware sales in
US, the gaming software seems to Xbox 360’s turf.
For example, according to the latest data released by the
NPD Group, in the past month five titles from Top 10 best selling games were
games for Xbox 360, with Wii having only two entries (Wii Play and Guitar Hero
III: Legends of Rock).
On the other hand, the affirmation made by Regis Fils-Aime
is another sign that this year the battle of the gaming console will focus on
the software side.
It will be interesting to see what is Nintendo “cooking” for
us.
