The marriage between actors Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Philippe is now officially over, after the divorce was finally completed on Thursday.

The two separated in 2006 after a seven-year marriage and the dissolvement came on October 5, but several matters such as custodial issues and also financial calculations needed a bit more time for a proper solving. When she filed for divorce, Witherspoon cited “irreconcilable differences,” but the exact reasons for the split were kept private.

Even though 33 year-old Philippe declared at the time that the break-up represented the most devastating time of his life, the actor managed to get by and he is apparently involved with Australian actress Abbie Cornish, who he met on the set of the movie “Stop-Loss.” 32 year-old Witherspoon also seems to have a relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal.

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Philippe met during the actress’s 1997 birthday party and after a long distance relationship engaged in December 1998. The wedding took place in Charleston South Carolina’s Wide Awake Plantation on June 5th, 1999.

The two have two children, a daughter Ava, who is eight years-old and a son Deacon, who is four years-old. The arrangements for the custody are kept confidential.

Witherspoon is one of Hollywood’s best paid actresses with a pay-check of over $15 million a picture, placing her above major stars such as Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz or Nicole Kidman.

Ryan Phillipe’s career has had its share of highlights with movies such as 1999’s Cruel Intentions and Oscar-winner Crash and the current media attention might help boost it up a bit more.
