Redmond O’ Neal, the troubled son of Ryan O’Neal and Farah Fawcett, was arrested on Saturday for drug possession. More precisely, he was caught with drugs after a routine check in the parking lot of Pitchess Detention South Facility in Santa Clarita.

 

Redmond O’Neal was there, together with a friend, to visit an inmate. According to Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Redmond O’ Neal was arrested around 9:30 Saturday morning and he was take into custody. His bail was set at $25,000.

 

Redmond is currently serving probation for his DUI and drug possession conviction last year. He is facing another drug charge after he and his father, Ryan O’Neal, were arrested  in a Malibu, California to the charge of possessing methamphetamines.

 

Earlier this year, Ryan O’Neal pleaded guily and he was sentenced to 18 months in a drug rehabilitation program. He is also forbidden to possess any controlled substance or associate with any known drug users.

 

Ryan O’Neal has become famous in the 60’s after playing the role of 21-year-old rancher's son Tal Garrett in NBC series, “Empire”.In 1971, Ryan O’Neal was nominated at Best Actor Academy Awards, for his role in “Love Story”. However, the movie which has seven nomination won an Oscar, but for Best Music, Original Score.

 

In 1972, Ryan O’Neal was the second highest grossing movie star, but his career has fade away in the next years.Recently, he had a guessed role in TV series “Bones”, as the father of Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan.

 

In 2001, Ryan O’Neal was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia. As of 2006, it is in remission.

 

The arrest of Redmond O’Neal follows after last week it was announced that his mother, Farah Fawcett, has been hospitalized in a critical condition in an unknown hospital due to a cancer remission.
