It looks like Summit Entertainment is going to make a movie
after Warren Ellis's three-part graphic novel “Red.” According to Comics2Film, Erich
and Jon Hoeber are going to write it and Lorenzo di Bonaventura along with Di
Bonaventura Pictures executive Mark Vahradian are going to produce it.
This is the first time that a DC Comics title is going to
another company, leaving Time Warner. But Gregory Noveck who is DC senior vice
president creative affairs will oversee the movie based on a comic book
published in 2003.
The story is about an ex black-ops CIA agent who has retired
from his former career and tries to live a normal, quit life until a high-tech
assassin shows up and tries to kill him. In danger of being exposed and with the
one he loves facing danger, also he must gather his old team and discover the
person who tried to kill him.
The book was written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by
Cully Hamner. Apparently some new technology is going to be involved in making
this movie.
The Hoebers are known for working on “The Pact” for Working
Title and “Alice” for Universal.
Di Bonaventura is producing "G.I. Joe" and "Transformers
2" with Don Murphy and Tom De Santo, reported the Hollywood Reporter.
