Although on one thing about the Kindle 2 the majority agrees, that thing being that the e-book reader is really a success, there are many who argue that the price of the gadget is too high and the price of the e-books Amazon.com sells for the reader is also too high.
Amazon.com sells its electronic books to Kindle and Kindle 2 customers for more than $9.99 apiece. At this cost for an e-book, in the case of avid readers the Kindle 2 would pay for its self at some point, if you compare the price of e-books to the ordinary books of course.
However, many e-book customers are irritated by Amazon.com’s pricing policy for e-books.
In fact, as much as 1,200 posts have been made on a popular Kindle online forum thread titled, "Boycott anything over $9.99." As expected, the release of Kindle 2 sparked a new wave of posts on that forum.
Most comments are complaints that Amazon promotes its Kindles by saying that it has several thousands of e-books for the price of $9.99 or less, when in fact it is not so. Most of those who posted comments on the forum argue that the buyers of the Kindle or Kindle 2 should pay less for an e-book on Amazon.com than the rest of the e-book buyers.
The forum is now moving towards a boycott under which no one would buy anything over $9.99, although there are comments saying that there are e-books that are worth more.
Amazon.com officials did not comment on this issue.
