On Monday rapper Yung Joc was charged for carrying a weapon
after police found a gun in his carry-bag at Cleveland
Hopkins International
Airport.
According to police spokesman Lt. Thomas Stacho, Jasiel Robinson,
27, the Atlanta rapper, was
arrested on Sunday around 6:20 a.m.
before boarding on a Delta Air Lines flight, the Associated Press reports.
A semiautomatic handgun and ammunition was found in his
carry-bag, police said.
Robinson told them that he wasn’t aware that the gun was
there.
Fred Szabo, airport commissioner, said that Robinson wanted
to pass the standard security checkpoint but he was stopped and questioned. Later
he was arrested, but without any incident.
On Monday, the rapper was freed on $50,000 bail. He was
charged with felony.
On Wednesday he is due to appear before court.
His lawyer Stanley Jackson Jr. said: "Yung Joc
maintains his innocence. He would appreciate privacy as he addresses these
allegations."
Stanley couldn’t
say which was the flight Robinson wanted to board or where was he heading to.
Yung Joc sold 1 million copies of his debut album “New
Joc City”
making him the biggest hip-hop star in 2006. His song “It’s Going Down” was
nominated at the Grammy.
In August he released his second album “Hustlenomics.”
