U.S. rapper known as The Game, who was ordered to serve 60 days in jail after pleading no contest to a felony firearm charge last month, checked into the Twin Towers Correctional Facility to begin his sentence.
According to Deputy Oscar Butao of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau, Taylor surrendered to authorities at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Inmate Reception Center at 450 N. Bauchet St.
The platinum-selling artist was accused of pulling a firearm in a school zone in February 2007 while two other charges, making criminal threats and exhibiting a firearm in the presence of a peace officer, were dismissed under a plea agreement.
In addition to his jail sentence, a judge also ordered him to complete 150 hours of community service and placed him under three years probation.
Early last year, the 28-year-old artist reportedly got angry and punched a player on a basketball field during a game which was played at a South Los Angeles school ground. He then pulled a gun from his red Cadillac Escalade and threatened to kill the man.
The rapper is currently working on his album L.A.X. The work is said to be a reunion with mentor Dr. Dre after a storied label-change and falling out in 2006. This album, which had been previously said to be The Game's final, also may sport an Aftermath imprint yet again.
