Da Brat had a less than happy Halloween ending after she was arrested early Thursday morning outside Atlanta following a fight at at Jermaine Dupri's night spot, Studio 72.
According to police reports, the 33-year-old "Ghetto Love" rapper, born Shawtae Harris, cracked a cocktail waitress on the head with a rum bottle following a heated exchange after the 24-year-old waitress allegedly bumped into her.
"According to witnesses, after the pushing, the waitress walked away, and a short time later, that's when Harris picked up a bottle and hit the waitress in the face with it," DeKalb County Police spokeswoman Mekka Parish told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The waitress, who sustained a laceration on her cheek and a swollen forehead, was rushed to the hospital by her friends.
Police officers answered a call to the club and arrested the rapper shortly after midnight and charged with felony aggravated assault. Da Brat was freed after posting a $50,000 bond that same night, Parish said.
The club owner released a statement saying "Studio 72 firmly believes the incident that occurred with the rapper Da Brat on November 1, was an isolated incident that in no way represents Studio 72, it's management nor its patrons."
"We wish to categorically state that we have never encouraged, condoned or knowingly tolerated acts of non-law abiding patrons," the statement added.
This wasn't Da Brat's first run-in with the law. In March 2000, she was arrested for allegedly pistol-whipping a woman in a Buckhead, GA nightspot after the woman refused to leave the VIP area. She was fined $1,000, placed on probation for 12 months and ordered to serve 80 hours of community service.
Being the first female rapper to have a platinum-selling album, Da Brat’s hits include the song "Funkdafied." She has also made appearances on reality TV shows such as "Celebrity Fit Club" and "The Surreal Life."
