Rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight was rushed to an Arizona hospital after he got into a fight at the W Hotel in Scottsdale, The Arizona Republic reported.
Two men were arrested in connection with yesterday early-morning’s incident which left the Death Row Records founder with serious facial fractures.
According to hotel security, two groups of guests engaged in a heated exchange of words in the VIP area that soon got physical.
Cops called to the scene saw Robert Carnes Jr., 38, of Bethlehem, Pa., twice punch Knight in the face. They had to use Taser stun guns to break up the brawl before arresting two men.
Carnes, who identified himself as Akon's business manager, was taken into custody along with Thomas Leon Anderson Jr., 33, of California, on suspicion of assault and disorderly conduct.
R&B star Akon, who was in Phoenix for the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, was not present when the fight occurred.
“It broke out and was over in a few seconds,” Scottsdale police spokesman Sgt. Mark Clark said. Police have not been able to confirm what started the fight, the Republic further reports.
Suge Knight, who is credited with helping launch the careers of such notable rappers as Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg through his label, faced many troubles in recent years including filing for bankruptcy and facing drug and battery charges.
His legal trouble goes back as far as 1992 when he was convicted of assault and placed under probation. He was then jailed for five years in 1996 for violating that probation.
