Radio host Don Imus, real name John Donald Imus, Jr., said he had prostate cancer.
The 68-year-old broadcaster made the announcement during the Monday broadcast of his syndicated radio program “Imus in the Morning” (on WABC-AM in NY).
However, the radio personality said he was very optimistic about it and had confidence that his doctors will cure him from the illness. Don Imus admitted that he was very surprised to find out that he had prostate cancer. He wasn’t expecting this after at least 10 years of healthy diet, he said.
Don Imus was diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer. This type of caner actually allows him to be optimistic about his treatment. He will begin cancer treatment immediately, he said.
When asked what the cause might have been, Don Imus said he thought the stress was a main cause for his cancer. Although doctors believe stress has an influence when it comes to developing caner, it is never the main cause.
But Don Imus is confident he’ll be fine. He said this kind of optimistic perspective on things that he usually has helped get through many difficulties so far, including being fired from his previous job.
The radio host said he already talked to Rudolph Giuliani and John Kerry about his diagnosis. Both politicians were treated of prostate cancer.
