Research in Motion’s new BlackBerry Bold was awaited with
great enthusiasm by many and with good reason. The device is considered by the
company’s officials the best ever BlackBerry model released and delivers a
great package of new features and also an elegant design, with a leather back
and rounded contours.
The Bold sports a great high-resolution screen with 480 x
320-pixel TFT and 65,000 colors, measuring 2.8 vs 3.5 diagonally.
The smartphone, released through an exclusive collaboration
with AT&T, provides preloaded applications such as YellowPages.com,
AT&T Navigator, AT&T’s Mobile Music service (XM Radio Mobile and
MusicID). There are also present several business apps, with software from
DataViz, Igea Care, TeleNav, Xora.Inc, Antenna Software, Diversinet, Pyxis
Mobile, Salesforce.com and Vaultus. In addition to the ones mentioned above,
users will also get access to third party applications from MySpace, Facebook
and JuiceCaster.
The device is available for $299 with a two-year AT&T contract.
Data plans are available starting with a monthly fee of $30 and users can opt
for an additional tax of $45 in order to receive access to BlackBerry
Professional Software or Enterprise Server that also ensures access to
corporate email.
The Bold provides global 3G, a 2.0 megapixel camera with a
built-in flash, zoom and also video recording, Wi-Fi, a built-in speakerphone,
keyboard backlighting and built-in GPS. It offers a full QWERTY keyboard and its
1 Giga Byte of on-board memory can be expanded up to 16 GB with the help of a
microSD. It also features an advanced media player for music and an optimized
Web-browser.
