Relay for life is a fundraising event focusing on helping out people suffering from all types of cancer. This year relay for Life is celebrating 15 years in Henderson County and for this occasion, a Christmas tree and other small business will try to raise funds for the cause and will decorate their shops and windows with the color purples, symbolizing all types of cancer.

 The celebration will start at the Elks Club, at breakfast and the event will be followed by the decoration of a Christmas tree that will stay up for the entire month of January.

The town is also taking part in the fight against cancer, as more than 60 businesses in Hendersonville that will decorate in purple for the month of January.

Barber shops will offer purple hair extensions and $10 will be donated to Relay for Life. Every small business in the town will try to do something special and decorate their buildings in purple, showing the world that they believe that with some work and will power, people suffering from cancer can be helped out.
Business groups, community groups and health care groups all come together to fight cancer by raising money for the American Cancer Society. It is astonishing that about 3,500 people in Henderson County are cancer survivors.

Events like this have the power to show that people can still join together and fight for a noble cause and face their problems in the eye. It is very important to know that you are getting support for what you are doing, and Relay for Life is doing just that.
