Pullman, Wa. mayor Glenn Johnson was admitted to a Pullman hospital late Sunday or early Monday after his blood pressure spiked and it was suspected that he might have suffered a stroke. Johnson is known by most people as the public address announcer for Washington State University football and basketball games.
Erica Weintraub Austin, interim director of WSU's Edward R. Murrow School of Communication, told king5.com that mayor Johnson was taken to Pullman Regional Hospital Sunday evening. The prognosis is allegedly good but he will remain in hospital for recovery. Johnson's wife said her husband's "primary difficulty is short-term memory loss," AP reported. Apparently, there is no paralysis and he is able to talk.
Mayor Glenn Johnson will be going to a Spokane hospital today for more tests, and he is not allowed to see visitors as yet. He is he News Director for Cable 8 News in Pullman and joined Washington State University as a faculty member in 1979.
"He's so significantly improved this morning, we're hoping it's not terribly long" before he returns to office, said Ann Jensen, an executive assistant for the city, quoted by AP.
