The sixth season of the television show “Project Runway,” even though it might never come to be broadcast because of the lawsuits involving NBC Universal and the Weinstein Company, filmed its finale at Fashion Week in New York on Friday.
Heidi Klum, the TV show’s host, stated for the 1,000 people in the audience gathered in the tented room where the season finale was shot that the crew hoped that everything was to be sorted out in a timely manner.
Even though the season finale is usually the perk of the Fashion Week, which is held at Bryant Park in Manhattan twice a year, this one had quite a shadow cast on it given the uncertain if not bleak future of the show.
The M.O. for the previous seasons entailed that the first episodes of „Project Runway” were broadcast before the show’s three finalists got to present at Fashion Week, which allowed the audience to lend support to their favorites.
This Friday, however, producers went all-out to keep the identities of the finalists a secret, for fear that the Fashion Week audience should leak spoilers that would chip off some of the excitement of the show for future viewers.
The finalists were prevented from walking onstage and presenting their fashion designs, the latter having been shown to the audience anonymously.
Moreover, all sixteen contestants were requested to be present for the event backstage, which made it hard for models or makeup artists to single out the finalists.
In addition, reporters were banned from the backstage area, which has never happened during previous seasons.
