According to an announcement made by FOX earlier today, Prison Break’s fourth season will be its last. The series had a great run, probably much bigger than initially anticipated, winning the hearts of hundreds of thousands of viewers, and maybe even millions.
Prison Break’s final episodes are scheduled for release on Friday, April 17.
Even though many fans will be dissappointed with the news, they should actually be greatful for these four seasons, as at first, many thought everything will end after the first season, once the two, Michael and Lincoln, escape from jail. Thanks to the team of writers gathered to work on the project, the entire plot got a lot deeper, with twisted consipiracies and new faces, finding reasons to take it to a second season, a third season and now its final fourth one.
The plan is to go out with a strong finish. There were still enough good ideas to take the series to the end but far from sufficient to begin a new one, as at this point, the show has maxed out from a creative point of view. Besides this, the public’s interest does not appear to be as strong as at the beginning.
Also, I believe that in these situations, fans are better off complaining about the end of a good show, rather than companing about a bad, forced, unnecessary final season of a good show.
The series was created by Paul Scheuring and stars Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Sarah Wayne Callies, William Fichtner, Wade Williams, Amaury Nolasco and Robert Knepper.
