Princess Diana Dumped Hasnat Khan, Said To Be Her True Love

As Diana’s inquest continues, more things are revealed about the Princess. Being heard at the inquest, Hasnat Khan, said to be Diana’s true love, declared that, contrary to what it had been rumored, Diana was the one who ended their relationship.

Thus, Khan, a Pakistani heart surgeon, infirmed the claims that he had broke off the two-year relationship as he could not cope with the massive publicity going on around Diana.

Dr. Khan said in a statement read to the court, that the clash between him and the Princess of Wales came after she had returned from a holiday spent with Mohamed Al Fayed in 1997.

He suspected that she had “met someone from the Mohamed Al Fayed contingent,” but he did not know who.

Diana’s love affair with Hasnat Khan was the most serious she had had after the divorce from Prince Charles, three years earlier. Diana and Khan, whom she called Mr. Wonderful, met in 1995, due to her interest in the life-saving surgery carried out at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London. He described her as being “down to earth and made everyone feel at ease,” but “very flirtatious with everyone.”

He said that the Princess would leave messages for him at the hospital, using the name Dr. Armani. They would usually meet at Kensington Palace or at his home. Diana considered that these places were the only places the photographers did not have access.

Dr. Khan, 48, now living in Pakistan, said that they discussed marriage but there wasn’t a concrete proposal from neither of them, although Diana had asked her butler, Paul Burrell, to find a priest who would marry them in secret. Diana had allegedly told Burrell that Khan was ‘the one.” She even introduced him to her two sons, princes William and Harry, AFP notes.

“As far as I was concerned she would not have had to convert to the Muslim faith. The only problem would be if we had children and what faith to bring them up in. She never said she would convert, although she read up on Islam,” Dr Khan said.

He added that he does not believe the fact that Diana had been pregnant with Dodi’s child when she died, as she had been careful to take the pill. He also doubted that the deaths were planned, Times Online reports.
