Prince Of Persia Lands On Next-Gen Gaming Consoles

In a short statement, Ubisoft confirmed that a new title form the Prince of Persia franchise will be released until the end of the year.

The game, simply called by Ubisoft the new Prince of Persia, is developed by Ubisoft Montreal, the same team that created the Prince of Persia: Sands Of Time trilogy.

The new Prince of Persia will be available not only on PC, but also on the next-gen gaming platforms from Microsoft and Sony, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Ubisoft did not release any details, but it said that the game features “new breed of gameplay”, whatever that means.

Surprisingly, the new title will not be available on Nintendo Wii, but Ubisoft noted that the fans of Nintendo DS will be able to enjoy a game specifically designed for their favorite console, featuring an entirely new storyline and new characters.

Jordan Mechner, who used a technique called rotoscoping, in order to achieve a natural sense of movement, originally developed “Prince of Persia”. The first game was launched for the PC in 1989 and soon it became one of the most popular games of all times.

Since 2003, Ubisoft has released three titles based on the adventures of Prince of Persia: “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” in 2003, “Prince of Persia: Warrior Within” in 2004 and

“Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones” in 2005.

Also a movie called “Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time”, based on a script written by Jordan Mechner and directed by Mike Newell is scheduled to be released in June 2009.
