The British media reported on Thursday that the prince was requested to attend an “equality and diversity” course by the army after being caught on tape in the midst of a racist comment-filled outburst.

 

Both the BBC and the Daily Mirror, quoting senior defense authorities, said that Prince Harry was being sent on a course intended to emphasize how insulting racist language is.

 

A publication made available last month a 2006 recording of the 24-year-old prince making offensive remarks with regard to a Pakistani officer. Harry subsequently apologized for his conduct and explained that he had used the term when talking about a friend and that no malice had been intended. In addition, the prince was recorded making use of an appellation for people of Middle Eastern descent so as to make fun of another military student.

 

Black British comedian Stephen K. Amos admitted this week that Harry, who is currently a lieutenant in the Household Cavalry regiment and is studying to become a helicopter pilot, had told him months ago that he did not “sound like a black chap.”

 

In spite of the fact that the prince’s office said Harry had undergone “normal army disciplinary procedures,” it did not confirm whether the prince would attend a diversity course. Moreover, the Ministry of Defense announced that Harry had received a “dressing down” from his commanding officer.

 

Some seven years ago, Prince Charles took Harry to a drug rehabilitation center to discuss with recovering addicts following Harry’s admission of having smoked marijuana and having consumed alcoholic beverages while underage. The tabloid press thus dubbed him “Harry Pothead.” In 2005, Harry apologized publicly after a newspaper revealed a picture of him wearing a Nazi suit and a swastika armband at a costume party.
