President Bush's Wild Side Revealed In 'W' Trailer

The new trailer for Oliver Stone's upcoming movie, simply called "W," based on President George W. Bush's life, consists of scenes depicting the 43rd president of the United States as a young, drunken, raging W. bonging beer, gambling in his Yale college sweats and even swinging on George H. W. Bush in an inebriated rage.

As suggested by the trailer, the movie will cover the grounds of how George W. Bush transitioned from a hard-partying college student, who is a disappointment to his father, famous George H.W. Bush, to one of the world's most powerful people.

"If I remember correctly, you didn't like the sporting goods job. Working in the investment firm wasn't for you either, or the oil rig job. You didn't exactly finish up with flying colors in the Air National Guard, junior," President George H.W. Bush played by James Cromwell, who recently portrayed another public figure, Prince Philip, in "The Queen," can be heard in the background lecturing his son.

"What are you cut out for? Partying, chasing tail, driving drunk?"

Played by "No Country For Old Men" star Josh Brolin, the future president of United States is shown in another scene being led down a prison corridor in Yale sweatshirt, before he makes it to the White House.

"Who do you think you are, a Kennedy," the elder Bush character asks. "You're a Bush - act like one."

Scheduled for a release 18 days ahead the presidential election, it is almost impossible to predict its impact it might have on the elections. Democrat Barack Obama and other Democrats have tried to cast rival John McCain as representing a continuation of Bush administration policies, and a negative portrayal of that administration and Mr. Bush himself could feed into that narrative.

The first sneak-peek at the movie also shows the film's other protagonists including Laura Bush, played by Elizabeth Banks, Tony Blair, portrayed by Ioan Grufford, Condoleezza Rice, as depicted by Thandie Newton, Karl Rove ( Toby Jones) and Dick Cheney (Richard Dreyfuss).

Stone, though a critic of the Iraq War, Bush's defining act as president, insisted that he wanted to give a fair portrayal of the Republican.

"We are trying to walk in the footsteps of W and try to feel like he does, to try to get inside his head. But it’s never meant to demean him," Stone, who already made two films on American presidents, "Nixon" and "JFK," told Los Angeles Times.

"He is one of the great characters of this time and I think he has had enormous impact on the world and our generation as well as future generations," he added.

"It’s not a political movie. It’s a biography," Brolin said.

Produced by Moritz Borman, who worked with Stone on "World Trade Center" and "Alexander," and John Kilik, who also produced "Alexander" and "Pinkville," "W" began filming in May in Shreveport.
