President Bush Talks About Daughter’s “Spectacular” Wedding

Although she couldn’t see herself getting married at the White House, Jenna Bush had a “spectacular” wedding, as the U.S. President George W. Bush put it.

The United States’ First Daughter married Henry Hager Saturday at President Bush's ranch near Crawford, Texas.

The president took some time to talk about his daughter’s wedding. He talked to reporters at an airport in Waco where he boarded Air Force One to return to Washington, The Associated Press wrote on its Web site.

"This Mother's Day weekend was awfully special for Laura and me," said Buhs with his wife Laura at his side.

He called the bride "our little girl Jenna" and said his new son-in-law was a "a really good guy".

After the two exchanged vows as the sun set at the Texas ranch, the party started. There were about 200 guests, most of them family and friends. They were entertained by Tyrone Smith Revue, which provided a "get down" party, as the band leader said.

According to Tyrone Smith, the leader of the 10-piece party band Tyrone Smith Revue from Nashville, they played "You Are So Beautiful" for the father-daughter dance and the newlywed first danced on "Lovin' in My Baby's Eyes" by Taj Mahal, The Los Angeles Times reported.

The key word around this first family wedding was privacy. A whole “regiment” of Secret Service agents made sure the uninvited guests don’t invite themselves in. Reporters and television cameras weren’t invited.

However, it was surrounded by privacy but not secrecy. In the last few days before the wedding, the president, the first lady and White House spokesmen gave some details about the wedding, but kept the event from becoming a media circus.
