With the Academy Awards just around the corner, everybody is wondering what this edition would bring, especially since surprises have been announced, with Hugh Jackman having jokingly said that the Oscars would be presented in a rather naked and also sung manner.
Ways to give the ceremony a makeover are an absolute must this year, since the ratings have been seen to plummet for a while, with the event having been watched by only 32 million viewers in the United States in 2008, which translates as the lowest rating since 1974.
Nevertheless, nobody knows what to expect of this Sunday, since producers Bill Condon and Larry Mark, who also collaborated on the 2006 musical „Dreamgirls,” have refused to disclose what would happen during the Academy Awards ceremony.
As for host Hugh Jackman, in an interview backstage at the Kodak Theatre, the actor said that even though he had not told anyone yet, they would be doing most of the Oscars ceremony naked, adding that they would sing almost all throughout the event.
Moreover, he stated that some things would be covered with some strategically placed leaves, saying that they were not aiming for distasteful, but for something to symbolize the raw emotion that would shroud the entire evening.
Currently, the only rumor that might turn true is that Jackman will kick off the evening with a song and a dance number choreographed by Moulin Rouge! director Baz Luhrmann.
For the time being, no award presenters have been revealed, while word has it that some of them would be showing up for the event through a back entrance of the Kodak Theatre in order to keep their presence a secret until they were to walk onstage.
