Actress Kelly Rutherford, who plays Lily van der Woodsen on "Gossip Girl" and her husband German entrepreneur Daniel Giersch are parting ways after two years of marriage.

According to papers obtained by People, the 40-year-old actress, who is three months pregnant with her second child, filed for divorce on December 30, citing "irreconcilable differences." She and her estranged husband welcomed son Hermes Gustaf Daniel Giersch two years ago.

She recently caused a little bit of controversy after telling the press she still breastfeeds her two-year-old.

"It's an amazing bond with your child," says the Gossip Girl star, 40. "Some cultures do it up to five years, normally. I thought, 'Well, I'll just do it as long as it feels right for my son.'"

Bonding aside — like many moms — Rutherford said she believes that breastfeeding played a big part in her postpartum weight loss, and hopes it will again after baby-on-the-way makes his or her debut in June.

"I was thinner after my pregnancy than before, and I think a lot of it was the nursing. They say it helps get your body back to shape in a natural way."

In the meantime, Rutherford, who is expected on the set of "Gossip Girl" starting Tuesday, must really understand her role as serial-divorcee Lily van der Woodsen since this is her second divorce. Her first marriage to Carlos Tarakano, a banker, lasted a total of five whole months. The two got married in June 2001.
