U.S. talk
show host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres tied the knot with her long-time
girlfriend Portia de Rossi at their Los
Angeles residence, People magazine reported.
Ellen DeGeneres, aged 50, and the actress, aged 35, were
both dressed in Zac Posen designs, while the ceremony featured flower
arrangements by Los Angeles
florist Mark's Garden, according to People magazine. During the Saturday
ceremony which was attended by less than 20 guests, including the two brides'
moms, Betty and Margaret, they exchanged handwritten vows and rings by Neil Lane, a
spokesperson told the same source.
Although the couple had been seeing each other for almost
four years, Ellen DeGeneres announced her plans of marrying ex-”Ally McBeal”
actress Portia de Rossi during her talk show in May, following a California
Supreme Court ruling allowing same-sex marriages.
Furthermore, Portia de Rossi subsequently appeared in public
displaying a 3-carat diamond ring set on a pink pavé band her lover offered her
for their future nuptials when the pair showed up at the Daytime Emmy Awards
together.
"She's taught me lessons about myself, and I feel like
I've taught her," the TV host said of de Rossi last year, as quoted by
People magazine. "We've both changed and grown, and we just feel like,
'Oh, okay, this is completion,'” she added.
DeGeneres made a striking appearance in 1997 when her TV
character came to light on the ABC sitcom "Ellen," labeling her as
the first openly gay front character on U.S. prime-time network television.
She was also involved in a relationship with actress Anne Heche.
