Sunday, when the Super Bowl was kicked off in Arizona, viewers were surprised to see more than they had expected from a football game, since the television coverage was at one point interrupted by a pornographic clip.
KVOA-TV, a Tucson-based company, said that it had been appalled and disappointed to have learned that the audience had had their Super Bowl coverage disrupted close to the end of the broadcast, adding that the porn material had been seen by viewers of one cable network only.
Company president Gary Nielsen stated that they would start investigating the incident and that viewers would be provided with some answers.
Moreover, he informed that when the NBC feed of the Super Bowl had been transmitted from KVOA to local cable providers and via over-the-air antennas, the material had had no pornographic content.
Comcast, the company whose viewers got to see the porn clip during the Super Bowl broadcast, also stated that they were looking into what had happened to have given rise to the disruption.
The porn clip showed a woman unzipping a man’s pants, after which the two engaged in a sexual act and it was broadcast just after the last touchdown by the Arizona Cardinals, who lost the football game to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After the incident, angry viewers called local media outlets to complain about the happening, the latter informed.
