King of Pop Michael Jackson turned 50 on Friday.
The multiple Grammy Award-winning singer told ABC News’
“Good Moring America”
in a telephone interview on Thursday that he was “looking forward to doing a lot
of great things,” adding that “the best is yet to come.”
“I am writing all the time,” he told the morning news show
in a telephone call from California.
“I love composing.”
The pop icon explained that his 50th anniversary
would not be a big bash, as his program included “a little cake with my
children,” with whom he’d “watch some cartoons.”
Michael Jackson said he felt “very wise and sage, but at the
same time very young.”
The musician said that recording the chartbuster albums “Thriller”
and “Off the Wall” were the most pleasant moments of his life and that seeing
his works being publicly acclaimed made him feel very good.
The artist who has sold more than 750 million albums
worldwide said that he hoped his three kids – Prince Michael, aged 11, Paris, aged
10, and Prince Michael II, aged 6 – would enjoy as much of their childhood as
they could. “I let them go to the arcade and go to the movies and do things. I
think that comes naturally. I want them to get to do things I didn’t get to
do,” he said. In addition to this, Michael Jackson added that seeing his
children having a good time made him get a bit emotional.
When asked if he had received a membership card from AARP,
which deals with the needs and concerns of people aged 50 or more, Michael
Jackson joked, “Not that I know of!”
