Police started a manhunt after five women were found dead at
Lane Bryant store in Tinley Park, a
Chicago suburb.
According to them, there weren’t any survivors left when they’ve
arrived after receiving a call on Saturday about some shootings.
Officers went through the mall shops in the neighborhood in the
search of the gumman who killed the women in the back room of the strip mall and
afterwards walked out the front door.
For the search they also used a helicopter with an infrared
camera and scanned open fields and forest reserves, the Associated Press
reports.
The mall was locked and busses were stopped in order for
police to question riders.
On Sunday at the Lane Bryant store people were getting
flowers as they were trying to understand what has really happened on Saturday.
The victims were found by police after receiving a 911 call around
10:45 p.m.
According to Chief Mike O'Connell, a bystander saw a black
man, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a black winter coat, a knit cap and dark
pants, leaving the store.
Apparently the motive was robbery.
The store didn’t have a camera of its own, but authorities
are trying to find out if the others
stores had any video camera mounted.
O’Connell said: “We do not want to compromise any evidence
that may be out there ... I ask we keep family of the victims in our thoughts
and prayers.”
At the time of the shootings the Lane Bryant was open.
The identities of the victims were not disclosed by police. They
said that the ages of the victims raged from 22 to 37 and four of them were
from suburban Chicago while the
other one was from South Bend, Ind.
