Sony has released today a new software update for its
PlayStation 3 gaming platform. The main feature brought by the Firmware 2.00,
is an enhancement of the Remote Play, called Remote Start.
The Remote Play, a feature launched earlier this year in
May, enables users to stream photos, videos, and music stored on their PS3 hard
drive or PC onto a PSP system, whenever their PSP system is connected to a
wireless Internet access point (or hotspot).
Now with Remote Start the PSP system can be used to remotely
turn on or off a PS3 system from a hotspot, which means that the users will be
able to access their gaming console from any location in which a wireless
connection is available.
Also Firmware 2.0 brings a new Information Board which enables
SCEA to communicate directly with PlayStation 3 users, delivering information
to XMB (XrossMediaBar) on a regular
basis about new content added to PlayStation Store, software releases, hardware news,
firmware details and other updates.
Also, Sony has added custom themes to the XBR and a variety
of themes are available for download from PlayStation Store, including themes
related to specific titles or franchises.
Of course, the users are able to create their own themes and
the instructions on how to build them will be offered on the PlayStation’s
official site.
Additionally a PlayStation Network category icon has been
added to XMB, where users will now access PlayStation Store and Account
Management settings.
As you probably already now the new update is available
through the System Update feature or you can use a PC and a USB storage device in
order to install the firmware.
