A mother living in a Texas suburb was accused of dropping her baby girl from the second-story balcony in her house twice. She was indicted on a charge of attempted capital murder.
The mother identification was released by the local police officers who are dealing with the case. She is Padmaja Sivaray Enjeti, a 38-year-old woman form Plano and she as indicted by a Collin County grand jury just a week ago for her deed.
Plano police said two months ago, Enjeti dropped her 22-month-old daughter onto the first floor and then did it again while she was on the phone with a 911 dispatcher. After dropping the child for the second time, the schizophrenic mother resumed her phone discussion with the 911 dispatcher and admitted what she had done.
The infant girl is currently in her father’s care and the drop didn’t cause her any serious injuries, although initial reports showed that the child had a fractured skull.
The Grand Jury ordered Enjeti to undergo psychiatric treatment and in-patient treatment at Timberlawn Mental Health System in Dallas while out on bond. The 38-year-old had been suffering from schizophrenia since she gave birth of her daughter, said Howard Shapiro, Enjeti's attorney.
