There’s a lot going on in Brad Pitt’s life. The Oscar-nominated actor not only has a fulfilling family life, he stars in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons," which will be launched on Christmas Day and is involved in rebuilding numerous houses in a New Orleans neighborhood where people lost their homes in the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
The construction of the houses is being funded through Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation, an organizations which focuses on rebuilding a part of New Orleans. Several families already moved into 6 homes that were finalized in the Lower 9th Ward neighborhood. Make It Right wants to build several more and it won’t stop until their number reaches 150 or maybe more.
In an interview wit Larry King, Pitt talked about the New President Elect Barack Obama, the incidents in Mumbai, India, his foundations and his family.
“There are families that have already moved in and will be celebrating their Christmases here, so we're very excited,” said the actor about the current state of affairs in New Orleans.
Pitt said the money promised for the rebuilding of the city started to flow, people are helping and there are many programs under way.
“There's a lot of great movement and a lot of great things happening down here. It's really nice to see,” Pitt told King.
Two other houses are currently under construction and in early 2009 the construction teams will begin working on 14 other. "You're going to see 100 homes here, mark my words,” said Pitt. The houses are energy-efficient and, once all the houses in the program are finalized, the Lower 9th Ward will most likely become one of the largest "green" neighborhoods in the U.S.
