The attempt of two lazy guys to stay ahead of a band of
vicious killers after one of them witnesses a murder is the plot of the newly
released “Pineapple Express”, starring Seth Rogen and James Franco.
The two broke
into showbiz together starring in Judd Apatow’s 1999 television series,
"Freaks and Geeks." Franco’s movie career continued its explosion
with roles in Sam Raimi’s "Spider-Man" and its sequels. Along with
the release of the comedy, the actor was also celebrating having just graduated
from university.
Rogen on the other hand also starred in Apatow’s "The
40-Year-Old Virgin”, followed by "Knocked Up" and
"Superbad." Franco also has just finished portraying Scott Smith
opposite Sean Penn in Gus Van Sant's upcoming “Milk.”
The script for “Pineapple Express” was written by “Superbad”
writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The movie promises to combine comedy with
action and with a huge amount of weed smoked by the protagonists. Thus it
promises to make its viewers have a good time. “A weed action movie” – they
called it.
Hitting theatres next Friday, the comedy tells the story of
Dale (Rogen), who gets into weed-enhanced panic after witnessing a murder. Dale
seeks help with his dope dealer Saul (James Franco), but the strange duo is
soon being chased by crooked cops, some other trusted followers and another
dealer (Danny McBride). Singer Huey Lewis wrote the film's theme song.
At the Los Angeles
premiere, stars such as Jim Carrey, Daniel Craig, Emile Hirsch, rapper Kanye
West, Alicia Silverstone, Jane Lynch, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Amanda Peet,
Jason Schwartzman and Jack Black are among the ones who gathered on the red
carpet to celebrate.
